It was a BUSY January!

February 3, 2013 — Leave a comment

We’re now officially one month in to 2013 and the year is already off to a GREAT start!

In the beginning of January we began laying the technical ground work for some exciting new features that we will be launching this year on the World Prayer Team website. I thought I would take a minute to update you on some of these changes and improvements that have already been made and (hopefully) answer some of the questions that we have already had so far.

1) Security

At the end of 2012 we saw a MAJOR increase in traffic to our site by way of more members joining The World Prayer Team and more people posting prayer requests. With that positive increase we also saw a MAJOR increase in spam attacks via fake accounts and spam posts to the site. It’s no surprise to me that The World Prayer Team site would be targeted in such a way. We are making an impact around the World for the Kingdom of God, and there’s going to be push back from that.

The security of our members personal information and the integrity of this site has always been a top priority for us, so one of the major updates we made was to the security of our system. Though most of the security changes that were made are not seen “publicly”, removing the need to “login” to post a request as well as adding the “Spam Protection” feature to the Prayer Request Form has helped to lower these spam attacks by almost 90%.

(Many people have asked if they will be able to log back into the Dashboard to view their previous requests. The answer to that is Yes, but not yet. Stay tuned for more on that. We’re also still in the process of migrating 2012 request to the new system, this is taking some time.)

2) Mobile Friendly

Another exciting upgrade we made to the World Prayer Team site is that it is now more “Mobile Friendly”. Almost 15% of the traffic we get everyday to the website is from smartphones, so we wanted to make it easier for our smartphone users to post prayer requests, pray for requests and navigate the site.

3) Weekly and Monthly Prayer Reports

One of my favorite things about the members of The World Prayer Team is your heart for others. You have committed your time and energy to pray for thousands of requests from strangers all over the world. In order to make things easier for you and to make sure that no prayer request goes ignored, you can now sign up to receive a weekly or monthly prayer report that will be emailed to you. To sign up to receive one or both of these reports simply click the “Join the Team” link and create a new account or update your current one. (If you’re already a member just fill out the form again, your information won’t be duplicated, just updated.)

These are just some of the recent updates that have already been made, there are many more in the works. (If you read our last email you already know about some of them… you can read that here)

As with any major technical update, we know that some of you may experience technical issues. We are working hard to flush out all of the bugs as quickly as possible. Thank you so much for your patience. If you are experiencing issues and you have not already reported them to us, please go to the “Contact” page and fill out the form. (be sure to select “Technical Support” from the drop-down menu.)

You may get tired of me saying this, but I want to thank each and every one of you for BEING the World Prayer Team!

Blessings,

Niles
